What’s More Important Country Or Revenge?? Read And Decide

The news might not go down well with Leander Paes fans but its shockingly true, his dream of playing record 7th Olympic has been shattered by another countrymen Rohan Bopanna, who has written to AITA expressing his preferred men’s doubles partner at Rio Olympics and as per the sources he has picked Saketh Myneni ahead of Leander Paes.

Bopanna has earned a direct Olympic entry based on his World No. 10 ranking in men’s doubles. On the other hand, Sania Mirza has also written to AITA, giving her choice for mixed double’s event at Rio Olympics.

Leander Paes, who recently won French Open title (completing his Career Grand Slam) with Martina Hingis in mixed doubles is the highest-ranked player after Bopanna. Paes’ appearance at the Rio will depend on Bopanna and Sania, which looks quite unlikely to happen.

The reason is not as simple as it seems to be. The rivalry between the two is not new to both of them. It all started four years back during the time of London Olympics. At that time, Paes was in the Top 10 and had privilege to choose his double’s partner, he goes for Mahesh Bhupati (who was bigger name than Boppana at that time) rather than opting out for Bopanna, due to which Bopanna didn’t able to participate in that Olympics.

Four years later similar is the case with Paes and ball this time is in Bopanna’s court. What a perfect way to take the revenge!! Isn’t it? But one must know that in all these shitty things Country’s hope for medal at Olympics suffer.

No one is bigger than the Country and no one will ever be bigger than the Country. Country must come first. The tennis federation had to interfere in the matter and in fact they are doing so. They had called for a meeting on Saturday and they are the one who will take the final call on selection. Hope everything goes right and Country’s hopes for medals didn’t suffer.
