Sushil Kumar’s hopes for Rio Olympics may have hit a roadblock. This has further fueled the speculation that Narsingh Yadav is the one who has got the nod for the 74kg freestyle category. What goes against him is that he has largely been missing in action, after participating in London Olympics, he has only participated at the 2014 Commonwealth Games where he won gold.

Sushil wants a trial while Yadav feels the old system of selecting wrestlers based on quota system is still the best option. On Wednesday, he had appealed to the WFI to hold trials to decide on who should represent India.

However, Narsingh had secured an Olympic berth by winning a bronze medal in the 74kg category at last year’s World Championship in Las Vegas. Now we have to wait for IOA’s and WFI’s decision to clear the dust over the issue and let’s hope that whosoever is better must be given a chance so that India can bag a gold in this category this time.
